About Homeless Hounds Animal Rescue
Homeless Hounds Animal Rescue is a section 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue organization serving the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area.
We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and placing dogs left homeless for whatever reason--dogs in public shelters where they are at risk for euthanasia, dogs given up by owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. HHAR is run entirely by compassionate like-minded professionals who volunteer their time and resources to help save the lives and then care for these animals.
Our goal is to rescue abandoned dogs in our community and provide food, shelter, and vet care while promoting spay/ neutering to end the suffering of overpopulation and unwanted animals. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes through onsite pet adoption events at Petsmart and by listing them on petfinder.com following the adoption process which includes finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes. Animals in our care are spay/neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes.
Why we do it---According to the Humane Society of the United States about 2.4 million healthy, adoptable cats and dogs --about one every 13 seconds--are put down in U.S shelters every year. Spay/neutering is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, ensuring that every pet has a family to love them.
Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets. HHAR stands ready to help you, the prospective adopter, find a companion who will thrive in your home. We are here to assist you in every way possible throughout the adoption process and will continue to be a helpful resource after you have welcomed your new pet into your life.
Can you volunteer?
